Red is my favorite color. It surely justify the reason why I fell in love instantly with this fragrance. I was obsessed. I kept saying to myself that I did not another perfume to be stuffed into that cramp space on the lowest rack of my closet. But, could you prevent a mad, haunting thought that somebody would wear a perfume whose bottle is terribly beautiful you decided it definitely was a perfect time to part with the newly-withdrawn-from-ATM rupiah-bills?

I could not help myself, I have to have it, snatch it before anybody found out, before it was being featured in fashion magz everybody started flocking to nearest CH counter in the most happening mall Grand Indonesia. Oh, this infatuation, this horrible feeling. And, that was only for mass-market-perfume! Gosh, I was so disgusted with myself but guess what, I still ran to the store just to catch a whiff of it. I promised I would never buy big bottles, not until I could make my perfume wardrobe a wee bit tidy.

Just as I expected, CH is as beautiful as its bottle. I don't care much whether it will capture the essence of New York as per information shared in its marketing campaign. Nor I care whether it will bring back Carolina Herrera, Jr's lifetime memories. What I know is that: it surely is pretty creation. Explosion of fruit, composed of grapefruit and melon, accompanied my journey toward a day of fantasy, of free childhood memories. After, a part of my childhood memories revealed: a remembrance of time when eating Monde cookies filled with milky lemon cream bring back a smile and happiness beyond expectation. Oh, I do remember that time, when I was so simple, and milk and cakes were the best things in the world that could ever happened to me. I sat on small chair, its leg almost broken, rocking back and forth seeing my friends chasing themselves and laughing. To me, composition of praline and bergamot is genuine and inspiring.

Half an hour has passed. I found CH turned into something..(frankly) ordinary. It was just a taste of jasmine and a bit of rose. When I almost gave up and decided it might be beautiful at first but unimpressive in the middle, CH shocked me by presenting a soft, cinnamon scented cashmere. I was in awe. I love cashmere to the core, either in fabric or in anything more abstract like fragrance. Its delicate yet fragile texture exposes an aura of elegance: exactly just like CH brings to mind. So, when the woodsy notes come, it just emphasized this freedom of elegance even more, leaving a trail to a bliss of both carefree girl and independent, sensual woman.

Ah, Ms Herrera Jr, you made a my life more beautiful today. Thanks so much.

The high price of true perfume is the result of the high concentration of oils.

There are several standard categories of perfume derivatives that are generally sold. The product closest to a perfume is called Eau de Parfum. "Eau" is the French word for water so this product is simply a true perfume mixed with extra water. Now a perfume company executive would cringe at this crude explanation but basically this is the translation of the name from the French. The next product down the list is an Eau de Toilette followed by an Eau de Cologne, known simply as "cologne". If the brand name of perfume is sold in all these categories, the perfume is the most expensive and the cologne should be the least expensive.

Since everyone's body chemistry is different, fragrances smell differently on different people. Scents don't have the same aroma since people's skin types are different. For example, dry skin doesn't hold scents as long. However, natural body oil will hold a fragrance longer since the perfume can blend with it easier. The reason behind this little experiment is that perfumes change over time when applied to your body. Body chemistry differs to each person too. So what might smell good on your friend might not be that great on you. Also, what smell great on you now might not be that good after an hour or two.
Perfumes are made of layers. The first one is the scent you smell after you apply the perfume immediately. This layer gives off the first impressions but fades rather quickly. The middle layer of a perfume consists of the smell of the perfume as it mellows or reacts to your skin or body chemistry.
You can smell this layer in thirty minutes or so after applying the perfume. The final layer is the base and contains the richer scents. It is the main theme of the perfume and it will blend with the middle layer. This smell usually manifests after more than thirty minutes of applying the perfume.
Once the perfume have reached this layer, only then can you really determine if the scent is something that you would like or something that would compliment your character.
If you find out that current market or commercial perfumes don't match your personality, you could always try to make your own perfumes. There are a lot of ways to make your own. You could do some experimentation with perfume oils or essential oils.
You might also find the pursuit as an interesting hobby and might get hooked at the almost endless possibilities of scents or fragrances. The commercial perfumes are made form synthetic chemicals which give off quite different scents from natural essential oils. But to make your own perfume also means to create a scent that is only yours and yours alone.
